Together with ‘The Land Behind The Mirror’, I exhibited in The Hague at KVO2 on the Korte Vijverberg from June 22 to July 2, 2023. A beautiful location where we exhibited our work with 6 artists. All the work is characterized by openness and curiosity and invites the visitor to enter the world behind the reflective surface.

The Land Behind The Mirror is a [ lens-based ] art collective formed by Alida van Gool, Katariina Kärki, Marleen Dalhuijsen, Rienk de Vries, Roald Wolters en SUNouSAN. Although all members have their own distinct vision, they feel connected by the way they question reality, turn it upside down and shed new light on its appearance. The outside world often forms a frame of reference, or point of departure, for further investigation. Their work is characterized by a certain openness and curiosity. It invites the viewer to step into the world behind the reflective surface.

The #7 issue of PF magazine is about photographers who deal with the theme of the inner person in a broad sense, such as feelings and emotions. And that's how they ended up at SUNouSAN. After seeing various images, the editors chose for this polaroid. An image that tells everything in one glance. A photo taken and edited with 100% emotion. Grateful and happy that PF has published this image.

I have been keeping a visually expressive night book for a long time, at times when I want to get rid of something or have to process something I dive into it. I also shoot a lot on polaroid, my other love. These Polaroids also form various stories. One of them is 'The Nightfly. I made a special edition box with 75 copies. It's a huge success and I'm almost through it so there will be a follow up. When you are interested, send me an email and I will put you on a list and keep you informed of the sequel. The email can be sent to san@sunousan.com .
